Directed by Sam Mendes and based on the searingly funny and critically acclaimed memoir, former Marine Anthony Swofford (Jake Gyllenhaal) begins boot camp training in the late 1980s with his spotter and best friend Alan Troy (Peter Sarsgaard) under Staff Sgt.
